Bell Field Students know how to BARK!
Our school has a behavior system with the acronym BARK. This stand for Be responsible, Active learning, Respect others, and Keep safe. We've spent time, and will continue each day to spend time going over the expectations of students in various situations and locations in our school.
Within the school, students can earn bracelets for being caught "barking". At the end of the day, students will turn in their bracelets for raffle tickets to be entered into the weekly drawing. If the student's name is drawn, he/she can pick a prize out of the prize box. Each month has a different theme for the prizes in the box!
In our classroom, our students can earn bones in a jar. These bones can be given for the class walking quietly through the halls, acting appropriately during work times, being active learners, being responsible during the day when a substitute was here, etc. After the collection of bones has reached a certain number (we start off with needing to earn 20 bones), the class gets to choose an incentive (extra recess time, teacher brings a snack, move desks to sit anywhere in the classroom for a day, etc).
Below is the BARK matrix for our school.
